At last report I was looking
forward to the cool weather, well be careful what you wish! It was the coldest winter in over 30 years.
It made fishing tough but there were still bonefish around in Biscayne Bay and some times a number of sharks and the permit
would pop in now and then. Before the cold, Flamingo was setting up nice bonefish and tarpon showing up
in good numbers. And again, I am looking forward to more of that with the warm weather change. Enough with
what was some reporting of what is.

Biscayne Bay with a last minute charter with a couple from Orlando tough day water was to could
and couldn’t find a fish only one shark that would not eat they asked to go back to the dock early wouldn’t wait
for the noon warm up. So as they drove home I ran back out to fish, allowed the sun to work it’s magic and found two
small schools one of 10 fish and one of 4 fish all the fish were big and I recaptured one of the fish I had tagged last year
with Chuck Vieth 300 + day earlier at 9 pounds and when I boated it it was 10 pounds, research is cool!

A day on Biscayne
Bay with my son Daniel hooking all the snapper he could stand. When he got bored with that we ran out to
hook a shark and I got one good run out of him and lost him. Daniel had one of the best days I can recall
with a school of about a hundred bonefish coming at the boat and he landed two nice bonefish at 6.5# and 7# not bad for 11
yr old. (he is well trained)
2/27/10
Biscayne Bay with a gentleman from Chicago (didn’t write down his name) found schools of
bonefish and a number of shark and hooked a nice shark that leadered so it was a land, no lack of mudding fish but no hook
ups.
2/28/10
Multi boat out of
Key Biscayne with two boats staying together, cold and windy. My first two anglers landed a couple of shark
and the second ones had shot on fly at sharks and bonefish.
3/01/10
Biscayne with Mike Langhammer and Chuck Vieth both from Chicago found large number of mudding
fish but could not get one to eat because of the overcast sky. Mike did land a small tarpon and saw a lot
of snook that wouldn’t eat.
3/07/10
Biscayne Bay with James Brantley and his friend Annie saw 2 bonefish all day and a small number of sharks
landed 3 bonnet sharks.
3/8/10
Biscayne Bay with
Chuck Vieth and his son Mark found a number of bonefish but couldn’t get them to eat; hooked and landed a lemon shark
3/9/10
Biscayne Bay with Claude David found
two schools of bonefish but with all the clouds didn’t have enough time for him to make the cast. Landed a couple of
lemon sharks saw two permit.
3/10/10
Biscayne
with Claude and his wife Gilley 2nd day of 3, found a large number of shark and a large school of bonefish that would not
leave! Saw at least 60 fish making a huge mud, we could only hook one fish and it was 7 pounds.
Then we went 5 for 7 on lemon sharks up to 5 feet long, saw one permit.
3/11/10
Biscayne again with Claude, new day and saw bonefish and more sharks then I have seen in a
long time! We hooked 5 and landed 4, one spinner about 5.5 feet long and 3 lemons, one over 6 feet long.
It was very windy.
There
where other days recently that I cannot recall, but Biscayne has had bonefish all winter long and I expect it to get better
with the warming weather.
